Allies
The United Arab Emirates, as part of the Arab League, is for
the most part allied with countries such as Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Morocco, Mauritania,
Qatar, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, and Algeria. It also seems to be fairly allied with
Russia, as Russia has two embassies in the UAE and the UAE has one in Russia.
Interestingly enough, there is also a United Arab Emirates embassy in…wait for
it…Ukraine. The UAE also has fairly close relations with countries such as
Australia, Israel, Albania, France, Greece, Ireland, Kosovo, and Tuvalu. In
each of these countries it has embassies. The UAE is the United States’ largest
export market from the Middle East and the US has embassies on its soil. The
UAE is also allied with Denmark.
Enemies
In terms of enemies, Iran is both the UAE’s ally and enemy. There is a past history of dispute over three islands that Iran has claimed as theirs, as well as another island that each country has a different name for. Iran wants to make this island a sort of military base. There are no defined boundaries with the countries of Saudi Arabia and Oman, which could lead to future troubles.
